Post Election Speculation Recommendations

On today’s episode of Popcorn Politics, Brian Kramer and I discussed the fallout within the parties from the 2020 election.

We talked a lot about the flimsy house majority that Democrats currently have and how Biden’s cabinet appointment of Cedric Richmond and potentially Deb Halland among others serve to make that more precarious.

We also talked at length about the Georgia Runoffs between Jon Osoff and David Perdue, and Raphael Warnock and Kelly Loffler. These races will decide the makeup of the Senate and whether Republicans will have a solid majority or a 50/50 split. Based on everything available, I don’t see a reason to be optimistic like Osoff or Warnock can win this race.

The national environment will likely be more favorable to Republicans than in 2018 when Democrats lost the Governor race. Governor races are typically less polarized and more open for ticket-splitting.

In hour 2 Chuck and I discussed underrated films that I don’t know that I’ll get to cover on the main show.

Chuck and I have very different tastes so the recommendations were eclectic, to say the least. My top recommendations were Snowpiercer,

The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Expanse. These are three properties that get plenty of praise, but still not enough for the quality I believe they bring. Handmaid’s Tale is the only show to make me outwardly uncomfortable and have to look away from the screen. Any show that can evoke that reaction from me is praiseworthy. Chuck recommended Oz, the HBO show about prisoners.
