Desperately Seeking Sandwich Status

Status symbols are indicative of the values of a society and project indicators of significant life events.

For example, in a materialist capitalist society, wealth along with circumstances that are generally purchased by the wealthy are considered status symbols.

Where warriors are respected, a scar can represent honor or courage earned.

Among intellectuals, the ability to think intelligently and be educated is an important status symbol regardless of material possessions.

In many mixed cultures, the peers that are identified with an individual have great impact on social status.

Guilt by association, or honor by envy related to the known associates become understated yet omnipresent factors when quality is in question and related to character evaluation.
